Surface Characterization & Video Based Measuring Systems

The IDS possesses various video-based systems for a wide range of applications. Microscopes are available for a detailed study of objects and surfaces. The cameras are portable and can be used for dynamic examinations and thermal analyses.

Optical 3D Measuring System

With the help of the ALICONA IINFINITE FOCUS SL optical 3D measuring system, which is based on the focal variation method, the IDS has the ability to perform precise surface measurements. We can record both the shape of a component and its roughness during a single measurement and export them in the form of images or point clouds. The maximum vertical resolution of 20 nm enables us to measure surfaces and determine roughness parameters (Ra, Rq, Rz etc.) in the micro and nano range.

Stereomicroscope & Microscope Camera

The LEICA M80 stereomicroscope with an integrated IC90 E microscope camera enables us to rapidy record objects with a continuously adjustable zoom of 7.5x to 60x. Thanks to the built-in CMOS microscope camera, the images produced can be displayed and saved on the computer in real time with a maximum resolution of 10 megapixels and 35 images per second. A particular advantage of this system is that the position of the component under observation can be adjusted during the imaging process, allowing different viewing angles to be captured in a single work step.

Infrared Camera

The ORION SC7000 infrared camera can be used to display the temperature distribution of objects as an image or video. The camera has a resolution of 320x256 pixels and covers a temperature range from 5 °C to 300 °C. The temperature sensitivity is up to 20 mK. Videos can be
recorded at a frame rate of up to 400 fps.

High-Speed-Camera

The PHANTOM v710 high-speed camera can record dynamic situations at up to 1,400,000 images per second. With a maximum resolution of 2390x900 pixels, the camera achieves a frame rate of 7500 fps. The exposure time is 1 μs. For extremely dynamic areas, the high-speed camera enables double exposure per image.
