Vibroacoustics (NVH)

Event form Lecture and exercise
Level Master
Semester Summer term
Creditpoints 5

Objectives

Upon successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

  • Describe technical terminology in terms of its meaning and apply it to practical problems;
  • Understand the causes of vibroacoustic phenomena, have a solid understanding of sound propagation phenomena, and be able to derive sound reduction measures;
  • Design experimental tests to analyze vibroacoustic phenomena and interpret the results;
  • Understand and apply numerical simulation tools to predict vibroacoustic phenomena.

Topics

  • Fundamentals of Sound Field Description
  • Human Perception of Sound
  • Sound Generation, Propagation, and Radiation
  • Vibroacoustic Measurement and Analysis Technology (with applications)
  • Finite Element Analysis Methods (with applications)

Experimental laboratory exercises & numerical computer applications; students may voluntarily complete an additional assignment in accordance with § 6 (6) of the examination regulations. Upon successful completion, this will be taken into account as a bonus when evaluating the final exam grade. Semester assignment (preparation and presentation of a subject-specific presentation on a specified topic) as a supplementary independent study assignment. Workload: 30 SWS. The grade earned on the additional assignment accounts for 20 out of 100 of the overall grade determined during the oral exam.
