Engineering Mechanics II

The lecture is aimed at students of mechanical engineering, mechatronics, production engineering / logistics, energy technology and nanotechnology.

Event formLecture and exercise
LevelBachelor
SemesterSS
Creditpoints5

Goals

The module imparts the basic methods and correlations of strength theory for the description and analysis of deformable solids. After successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

  • Analyze and solve structural problems independently.

  • Determine the loading and deformation of mechanical components as a result of different

    loads.

  • Solve statically indeterminate problems.

  • Evaluate the stability of bars under buckling load.

Topics

  • Uniaxial push and pull
  • Plane and three-dimensional state of stress
  • Thermal expansion
  • Bending
  • Torsion
  • Energy methods in strength of materials
  • Shear
  • Failure theory
  • Calculation of forces, moments and deformations in statically undetermined systems
