This year, the Future Day took place all over Germany on 25 April. IDS also took part with the ‘Mechanics you can touch’ programme for a total of 15 school pupils. They were allowed to explore the institute, the workshop and the campus in small groups. Experiments were done by the students and they were able to familiarise themselves with the everyday life of a scientist and industrial mechanic. A few special highlights were, for example, the experiment on feather stiffness, a shouting competition in our acoustic chamber and a snowball fight in spring with the help of our climate chamber.
